Learn & Serve in Tunisia

Learn & Serve in Tunisia is a unique summer opportunity for students to engage in service learning experiences in a Tunisian workplace. The 6-week program includes a study component in Tunisian Colloquial Arabic and a service learning component through a Community-Based Learning course. Learn & Serve students spend the summer learning about Tunisia through a volunteer experience at a particular organization.

Students enrolled in the Learn & Serve program take two academic courses: Community-Based Learning (5 credits) and Survival Tunisian Colloquial Arabic (1 credit). This program includes lectures, seminars, and site visits based in Tunis. Classes take place at the AMIDEAST/Tunisia center in the Belvédère district of the capital city. Applicants do not need prior Arabic study, knowledge of the region, or study abroad experience to participate in this program. Service-learning placements are available for students who speak English, French and/or Arabic.
